No, I want to be a hero because it’s who I was raised to be. Do you know what my first order was? Do you? It was to save the world. I was fresh out of the tube, didn’t know jack shit, and I still got up and had to fight some freaky angel dude.

The title is important to me, yes. But you’ve got to realize that that’s only because I want to distance myself from Apocalypse. We share DNA, but that doesn’t make us the same person. I’m different than him. And don’t for a second think I don’t put the hard work in. I train all the time, and I do my best in the Danger room exams. They haven’t asked you to go on any missions either, you know..

Exactly. You want to be a hero because it’s what everybody’s told you to be. Not because you want to help people. You’re doing it for self-satisfaction. 

Apocalypse was a mass murdering psychopath. It really isn’t that hard to distance yourself from that. You’re so hellbent on becoming the exact opposite of him, it shows that deep down, you’re afraid of becoming him. 

You want to not be Apocalypse? Stop thinking that power will get you everything. Power corrupts. It will corrupt you. That’s Apoc in a nutshell.

And yes, actually, they have. Wolverine took me on a mission in space once. I was asked to go on the mission to save Jubilee from the Shadow King. I’ve teamed up with Captain freakin’ America. The hell’re you going on about I haven’t ‘gone on any missions’?

No, you’re not, obviously. 

I want to be a hero! Everyone wants me to be a hero, and I want to be one too. I want to help people. I want to save the world. I want people to look at me and not see what I came from but what I am now.

I’m not going to be him, and you’re only half right. I’m not going to be him, and sure, I’m afraid of it happening, but I don’t think it’s going to. You’re wrong about the power though. I can’t be a good hero with just eye blasts, jet boots, and manipulation of my body. It won’t help me fight against telepaths or people who are literally nuclear reactors.  If I try to get stronger, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

… Well I’m glad you got to go on missions. You’re a good telepath and you deserve it. People with my power set are a dime a dozen. Maybe that’s why they don’t want me to go on missions.
