“Well if you want me to, then I’d want to. I want you to be happy.” He gave her a weak smile, rubbing his nose with the back of his hand lightly. “And… You know what? I can drop a few layers of clothes for you. We don’t know how long you’ll be here, and we should make the most of it, right?” Evan said, reaching up an loosening his tie slightly as they walked.
As her hand touched his cheek, Evan found himself slowly raising his gaze to meet hers. It was like instinct… Natural reaction to her touch.. He wasn’t feeling great at that moment, but seeing her face helped any bit of pain that her words had caused.
“It… It’s fine.”
He gave her another smile, this one weaker than the last. “I’m not mad.” He stated, gently reaching up and taking her hand in his own. Holding it, he turned his face and gently kissed the inside of her palm, bringing his eyes to meet her own again. “I’m not going to change my name though. That wouldn’t be respectful to my parents, or my uncle.”
Slowly straightening, Evan pushed the thoughts of his true nature back, shaking his head once before he ran a hand through his hair. “Come on, huh? Let’s just go to the room. Oh… And we can’t tell anyone you’re staying there. Ms. Pryde might not like it… Or Logan.”
He needed to stop that. He needed to stop being cute. And sweet. And lovey dovey. This was hardly in her comfort zone. Maybe she was getting in too deep…
Not like Quentina Quire ever knew when to stop, though.
Her expression was sympathetic as he kissed her hand. It was sweetness overload, really. These little motions, his thoughts, his expressions—she wasn’t used to it. Even with Morgan, it was never like this. He didn’t fawn over her like this. She straightened a bit when he did. “As fun as it would be to piss Logan and Pryde off, I think laying low for a while might be a good idea.”
As she straightened and spoke, Evan nodded, silently agreeing with her. Having her stay with him would be a risk. In truth, the best possibility for a safe place together would most likely be off campus. There was a hotel about four miles away, but that’d be the first place Logan would look if Evan went missing.
They could go to what was supposed to be his parents house in Kansas, but he would save that option for an emergency. For now, hiding out in his room seemed like a better idea.
“I’d like that.” He said, smiling softly. Moving past her, he gave her hand a squeeze and began to tug her along towards his room. “Come on. I want to show you our room.” Evan remarked, turning to smile at her, every moment pushing the thoughts of En Sabah Nur farther back into his mind.
Pausing in front of his room, he quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a single key, unlocked the door and opened it before stepping to the side so she could enter.
